Vice President of Housing Acquisition
POSITION TYPE:
Full Time
REPORTS TO:
Chief Program Officer
About Anthos|Home
Anthos|Home is an innovative new nonprofit that will transform the system by which New York City residents with housing subsidies locate and rent available housing.
Anthos|Home is modeled on Brilliant Corners in California, a successful housing clearinghouse that uses a flexible pool of funding to administer and quickly find apartments for tenants.
Anthos|Home will help to streamline the apartment search, approval, and move-in processes, and fill in gaps in the current NYC voucher housing market process. The organization will be a game- changer for New Yorkers who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness and for the public systems that serve them.
The Vice President of Housing Acquisition (VPHA) will be responsible for establishing relationships with landlords and brokers and securing units for use by households with vouchers. The VPHA will have access to “Flex Pool” funding to support efforts to secure apartments and work collaboratively with landlords, brokers and other key stakeholders in the NYC housing market. The housing acquisition department will “bank” apartments that meet standards required by the voucher system by paying rent while a tenant is being matched to the unit. The VPHA will design and implement the process by which apartments are secured and the best uses of the Flex Pool to obtain apartments.
The VPHA will, over time, oversee a team of up to five Housing Acquisition Managers as the program grows. Critical to this role is advancing a customer services ethos that is responsive to the needs of landlords, brokers and tenants. The ideal candidate will be creative and tenacious in exploring ways to increase the housing pool for voucher holders with tools like master leasing, repair financing and other ideas. The VPHA will also need to work with real estate attorneys to develop appropriate documents needed to secure units and have an expertise with the apartment rental process and market.
